The Anatomy of Good Instruction
Overview: This microlearning module introduces the essential components of effective instructional delivery. Designed for new facilitators and subject-matter experts, it models best practices for structuring sessions, promoting engagement, and aligning instruction with measurable outcomes. The training combines visual content and narrative walkthrough via Loom and Canva, allowing learners to observe design principles in action.
This sample demonstrates my approach to needs analysis, backward design, and multimedia production for adult learners within limited technical constraints; illustrating my ability to adapt and deliver quality learning solutions even without proprietary authoring tools.
Learning Objectives
1. Recognize key components of effective training sessions.
2. Apply adult learning and engagement principles.
3. Evaluate session effectiveness through reflection and feedback.
Tools: Canva | Loom | Google Drive
Design Process
• Analyze: Identified a need for a scalable, asynchronous resource to support facilitator onboarding.
• Design: Applied adult learning theory and structured learning objectives using Bloom’s Taxonomy.
• Develop: Created visuals in Canva and recorded an 8-minute Loom video to model the instructional delivery process.
• Implement: Shared as a microlearning resource in team training library for facilitator onboarding.
• Evaluate: Collected informal feedback; participants reported improved understanding of facilitation structure and pacing.
Reflection: This project demonstrates my ability to apply instructional design principles using accessible tools. It highlights how a clear learning objective, narrative guidance, and visual cohesion can transform static content into meaningful learning, even outside traditional LMS environments.
